Every revival in history has been populated largely by young people. Every cultural shift (the 60’s counter-culture revolution, Marxism, etc.) has been driven by youth.  But if they’re really such a force to be reckoned with, why do they make fart noises during prayer?

Brian will help us examine what the Christian faith looks like on an 11-year-old, a 14-year-old and an 18-year-old. We will also discuss what we can do to facilitate genuine spiritual growth in adolescents.

And Speaking of Goofballs... A youth leader’s primary job is not running a good program; a leader leads people. Whether you are your youth ministry’s main teacher or the snack lady, you are commissioned with leading teens closer to Christ. What is your role as a leader of youth? Brian will help us see what we can do to lead teens by empowerment, multiplication and grace. He will also help us look inward to see what we need to do in order to be effective in God’s hands.

This generation is the first to travel a truly postmodern pilgrimage where religious pluralism and faddish spiritual experiences are in vogue while Christianity is considered out of style.

You want to reach them. But how?

Dan Williams will be teaching on the book, Shaping the Spiritual Life of Students written by Richard Dunn, who suggests that the key is to set the pace in their lives--physically, intellectually, socially, and spiritually. Pacing takes time. It requires listening to youth and digging beneath the surface. But it pays off, because pacing allows you to enter the world of an adolescent and communicate caring.

In this training, Dan will illustrate how to set a pace with the lives of teenagers, in order to experience depth, and will help you grasp what it takes to stick with students for the long haul.
